Description: Since its launch in 1927, the Tutima brand has survived some of the most turbulent moments in world history, but the quality of its timepieces has never faltered. Tutima, founded by Dr. Ernst Kurtz, called the famous German watchmaking city of Glashütte home until a devastating air raid in 1945 destroyed its factories and forced production to move to Gandersekee in western Germany. As political tensions and the Iron Curtain rose, the watch brand continued quietly producing timepieces informed by Glashütter watchmaking tradition. Dieter Delecate, Kurtz's apprentice who took over in his place, began working towards bringing Tutima back to its home city after the Berlin Wall fell in 1991. By 2011, the transfer was complete, and the now-90-year-old brand has been making certified Glashütte timepieces ever since.
