Erwin Sattler Metallica Rotalis Modern Precision Pendulum Clock and Winder System

These two names will already be familiar to any Erwin Sattler aficionados. This new item is in fact a combination of a 5/6 second precision pendulum clock with 8 precision watch winders. It will be immediately clear to anyone who sets eyes on the new model that this combination is certainly much more than a conjunction of two well-known components from the Erwin Sattler collection. 

The Metallica 1735 precision pendulum clock is used here in an almost unaltered design. Naturally, all of the familiar features which make this model so successful have been incorporated: Only one or two changes should be mentioned here: 30-day power reserve, temperature-compensated Invar pendulum with air-pressure compensation, fine-toothed gold-plated gear wheels in combination with hardened, rust-proof pinions, Graham escapement with adjustable agate pallets, stainless steel ball bearings. These details result in an accuracy of 3 to 4 seconds per month.

Hidden in the sides, there are eight precision watch winders with all equipment details from the Rotalis range. Individual programming of each individual mover, interval function, sleep phase, programming via W-LAN and 12 o'clock position on stopping. The illumination of the whole piece should also be mentioned here; LED bars behind the rear wall cassette provide indirect illumination of the interior of the case. Thus the wristwatches, even with closed mover satellites, are masterfully set center stage. Further LED spotlights are designed in such a way that both the movement and the pendulum body are lit accordingly. And as a final touch, additional lighting elements have been fitted behind the clock in order to provide indirect illumination of the brickwork at the rear.

The illumination is operated by W-LAN or with an invisible button. But now to the true novelty in this ensemble. The automatic, yet mechanical opening of both mover satellites. Buttons in the backs of the two cantilevers can unlock and therefore automatically open them. This means that if the button is pushed, the corresponding cantilever moves up (90° to the side), and the wristwatches stored within are displayed. A smaller weight which hangs in the case on the left-hand side next to the pendulum achieves this rotary movement. This one weight alone is responsible for providing the energy for opening the two satellites, using complicated, ball-bearing mounted cable rope redirection. This entire mechanism has been newly developed in our factory. When both cantilevers are closed once more, the wristwatches are safely stored inside and the two instruments (barometer and thermometer) embedded in the front are displayed.
